Deepak Chopra hosts "The Road to Global Nuclear Disarmament: The Origin, the Evolution and the Future," a special edition of his weekly SIRIUS XM show on which Queen Noor of Jordan, former CIA Covert Operations Officer Valerie Plame Wilson, Academy Award-winning producer Lawrence Bender and Jonathan Granoff, President of the Global Security Institute, join him for a personal, in-depth conversation about nuclear proliferation and the importance of nuclear abolition.

At the 2010 NPT Review Conference, PNND and the Inter-Parliamentary Union co-sponsored several high-level events, including a May 6 lunchtime panel featuring Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
MPI Reception Honoring NPT Review Conference President Libran Cabactulan

At the reception hosted by the Middle Powers Initiative on May 5, 2010, PNND Members presented Ambassador Cabactulan with parliamentary declarations supporting a Nuclear Weapons Convention. Additionally, MPI Chairman Emeritus Douglas Roche presented Ambassador Cabactulan with a declaration in support of an NWC signed by over 500 Order of Canada recipients.
PNND organized a one-day Nuclear Weapon-Free Zones Civil Society Forum to explore the lessons from the existing NWFZs, the possibility of establishing additional NWFZs, and the role that NWFZs can play in achieving a nuclear weapon-free world. The event was co-sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Chile to the United Nations, the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms, and Mayors for Peace.
A strategy and briefing session on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty brought together more than 75 representatives from the UN community, including ambassadors, their staff, NGOs and UN Secretariat staff. Speakers discussed the view of the NPT from Washington, DC, and the implications for the Review Conference.
MPI Chairman Henrik Salander and MPI Chairman Emeritus Douglas Roche traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to participate in the Summit of Honor on Atoms for Peace and the Environment. Also on the agenda were meetings with the foreign ministry and parliament.

The Middle Powers Initiative’s Atlanta Consultation III: Fulfilling the NPT was marked by openness in the deliberations and an eagerness to explore all options for fulfilling the Non-Proliferation Treaty – both at the May Review Conference and beyond.

In October-November, 2009, PNND Global Coordinator Alyn Ware held several high-level meetings in Costa Rica, with President Oscar Arias, Presidential candidate Laura Chinchilla and PNND Member Edine von Herald.
During the Preparatory Committee meeting of the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the Global Security Institute held an array of events, including special panels and seminars, receptions and private meetings with high-level officials.
For the fourth year in a row, GSI President Jonathan Granoff actively participated in the summit of Nobel Laureates, held at the Campodoglio in Rome, Italy
A two-part event-- a panel at the UN followed by an informal workshop at the GSI office in New York-- co-sponsored by the Secure World Foundation, the Government of Russia, the Government of China and the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research.
